one-winged bee

"he say this bee wanted to woo another bee.. that's why he's holding one flower in his hand.. then he flew for a very long distant.. becos he's only left with one wing.. "

My friend sotsot was recounting the tale of a one-winged bee to me. Of course, there was a dainty little flower in the hand of the bee. Since when do bees have hands, you ask?? Since when will bees hold flowers in their hands, you ask?? Since when does a bee woo another bee with flowers in their hands, you ask?? Well, none of what were mentioned are valid. Simply put, a love story centered around a bee, yes only one bee, not two, does not have to be logically sound.

Back to the tale of the one-winged bee. But basically sotsot's friend who told the tale did not give the 2-sentence story a conclusion. Alas, it dawned on me that it came down to yours truly to finish the so-far-not-very-romantic-story.

"Pain emanated in the left shoulder of the bee. Having lost one of it's wing, flying had become a task that required painstaking effort. Hovering in the air, the bee contemplated the journey ahead. It had hoped to be able to get a glimpse of it's goal and the future it promised. Truly, things are not to be. Having took flight many days ago when it decided to embark on this quest for love, the prospect of it finding what it had held, and is still holding, true seemed bleak.

The plucky one-winged bee persisted in this treacherous journey, filled with hot thermals and great air turbulences. (Haha, sounds more like an airplane.) Whenever night fell, the bee could only spend its time in solitude, quietly wishing for the other bee to appear before its very eyes.

Dawn broke, the one-winged bee once again took to the skies and venturn forth. The dainty little flower, with it's pink petals and green stalk, was still in its hands. Will it ever find the other bee, you ask?? Will it ever give up on love, you ask?? Will there be a happy ending, you ask??

We may never know, but one thing is for sure, you cannot fault the one-winged bee for the mettle it has showed and it's perseverence."
